A Person with Morals gets Transported to Another World [LitRPG] [Satire]

The reddening sky above told me that the sun was about to set. I took that as a cue to head home. Today had been fruitful, and I was satisfied with what I had gained. What most pleased me were the slot tokens. Each spin on my slot machine was a chance for my horrible investment in Mind to finally pay dividends.

The return journey was made more pleasant by the mild evening breeze that filled the streets. At the wind’s behest, leaves rustled against the ground. I listened to the ambient noise while walking, but then I heard another rustling. It was unlike the leaves.

Investigating, I peered down the alley from which the sound came from. I didn’t want to be noticed so I peeked down the alley with only one eye, careful to keep the other half of my face hidden.

Within the shadows of the alley, I saw a creature with black wings and tall horns. It was a demon. I did not expect to find a monster so deep within a human settlement. Especially since this city was supposed to be the safest of all, due to the King’s presence.

The creature was rummaging through one of the many bins that lined the alley. The buildings on both sides were residential buildings, and so these bins were filled with household waste.

I wasn’t sure what the demon was expecting to find. There wouldn’t be anything valuable discarded in the garbage here.

Her messy searching stopped when she came upon something. From the binbag, she pulled out a used tissue. She gave it a sniff and then began to eat it.

I covered my mouth and resisted my instincts to hurl. My eyes darted away from the sight and then landed above her head.

I was surprised to see that she was a succubus. On Earth I had heard some rudimentary knowledge of the creatures. They were sexual entities that preyed on men by using their bodies. I leaned my head further into the alley so I could see with both eyes. When I focused my vision, I expected to see her wearing revealing clothing, but she had on a baggy shirt and loose trousers.

From the way she was dressed, it seemed as if she had just finished a workout at the gym. She was not at all like how I thought a succubus would look.

I fixated on her level. It was very close to the level of enemy I had wished to face. She would definitely give me enough XP to level up if I spared her.

The hard part was how to go about doing that. What was the best strategy to incapacitate her so I could cast Spare Monster? My first thought was to sneak up behind her to stab her neck with a needle, however I wasn’t confident in my stealth capabilities. I was sure I would be spotted before I got to her. In a head-to-head battle, I felt like I would lose, so I wanted to focus on other methods.

If sneaking wasn’t going to work, I could use my acupuncture darts. They would fly silently through the air and hit the succubus’ pressure point. But it would be foolish of me to believe that the darts were enough. What was more likely to happen was the darts being sensed by some unknown ability.

The succubus would notice a dart flying at her and she would either deflect or dodge it. Actually, it was presumptuous of me to even think that the darts were capable of piercing her skin. Her defence could be stronger than a normal human, so I had to take that into account.

Knowing that my first attack would be a miss, I thought about what to do afterwards. Charging in would only get me killed.

I realised there was a significant travel time between the dart leaving my fingers and it reaching her. Once the dart was thrown, I could hide somewhere and wait for her to come to me. She would investigate where the attack came from and then I would jump out at her.

From that close proximity, I could easily knock her out with a needle to the neck, however that wouldn’t be the end. The succubus probably had a title or skill that allowed her to recover from unconsciousness. I had seen that happen multiple times before.

I needed a counter for when she awakened.

“Hello, cutie. What’s got you so lost in thought?” the demon said while crouching down to my height.

“Aah!” I screamed. The succubus had bridged the distance between us while I was contemplating my plan. My fight-or-flight response kicked in. I reflexively pulled out a needle and jammed it into her neck. She was not expecting an attack from what she assumed to be a helpless human child. Her pressure point was struck, and she collapsed to the ground.

I waited for a few seconds, believing she would get up, but she did not. I nudged her torso with my foot to check if she really was unconscious.

That was way too easy, I thought. I mentally apologised to the girl and then cast Spare Monster.
